Best online casinos in Ontario: how to verify a site — illustration summarising this guide: Who runs Ontario's market; How to verify an Ontario operator; The advertising rules: no bonus ads; Player protections on regulated sites

Short answer: in Ontario, the best online casino question starts with a yes/no check: is the site on iGaming Ontario's list? Ontario has run a regulated online market since April 4, 2022. Regulated sites are registered with the AGCO, contracted with iGaming Ontario (except OLG.ca), open to players 19 and older who are physically in Ontario, and bound by rules on payouts, advertising and self-exclusion. We don't rank Ontario sites; this page shows you how to judge one.

Who runs Ontario's market

Two bodies share the work:

  • The AGCO (Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario) is the regulator. It administers the Gaming Control Act, 1992, registers operators and sets the Registrar's Standards for Internet Gaming.
  • iGaming Ontario (iGO) conducts and manages igaming provided through private operators and signs their operating agreements. It became an independent agency in May 2025. It doesn't run OLG.ca, which is operated by OLG.

The framework launched on April 4, 2022. Marking the first anniversary, the AGCO reported an Ipsos survey from March 2023: 85.3% of respondents who had gambled online in Ontario in the previous three months did so on regulated sites.

How to verify an Ontario operator

  • Find the exact site address on iGaming Ontario's list of regulated sites (igamingontario.ca → Players → Regulated Market). The list showed 49 operators and 84 websites on 14 October 2026, accurate as of 1 September 2026.
  • Match the domain, not just the brand name — check you're on the same web address the list shows.
  • Look for the iGaming Ontario and BetGuard logos, but don't rely on a logo alone.
  • Confirm the site asks you to be 19+ and checks that you're in Ontario. Under AGCO Standard 3.02, operators must detect and monitor player location.
  • Read the deposit and withdrawal rules. Operators must show all account fees before you pay and explain any restrictions.

If a site isn't on the list, the AGCO's position is clear: if you're playing on an unregulated site, "you are putting yourself at risk and should consider switching". Neither the AGCO nor iGaming Ontario can resolve disputes with unregulated sites.

The advertising rules: no bonus ads

Ontario is unusual in how strict it is about offers:

  • Standard 2.05 prohibits advertising and marketing that communicates gambling inducements, bonuses and credits. Offers may appear only on the operator's own site, or in direct marketing to players who actively consented on that site. Consent collected on third-party websites doesn't count.
  • That rule covers links and descriptions provided by affiliates, and affiliates marketing to Ontario must not also advertise sites that operate in Ontario without AGCO registration.
  • Standard 2.03 bars advertising that targets minors, including cartoon figures, influencers, celebrities or entertainers likely to appeal to them, and restricts the use of athletes except to promote responsible gambling.

That's why this site publishes no Ontario bonus offers.

The Registrar's Standards also require:

  • Limits. An easy way to set deposit and loss limits, with periods including 24 hours, 7 days and one month. Loosening a limit only takes effect after a cooling-off period of at least 24 hours.
  • Self-exclusion. Each site must offer its own program with terms including six months, one year and five years, and must take part in centralized self-exclusion.
  • Payouts. Withdrawals go only to an account you legally hold, as soon as practicable after verification; no credit; no crypto. Details on fast withdrawal casinos in Ontario.

When something goes wrong

Start with the operator's formal complaints process and get a reference number; the AGCO says a site may take up to 90 days. Then escalate to iGaming Ontario's Player Support with the site name, your player ID and that reference. iGaming Ontario says it can't settle bets, refund wagers or award compensation, and the AGCO says it can't get your money back — but the AGCO can investigate and issue warnings, suspensions or monetary penalties. Complaints about advertising, responsible gambling or suspected illegal activity can go straight to the AGCO.

We haven’t published a comparison for this page yet. A casino is listed only after we have its cashier and withdrawal terms with a source link and a check date. Until then, this page explains what to check yourself. How listing works

A site appears here only after we've matched it to iGaming Ontario's list and taken its cashier terms from the operator's own pages, with a link and check date. "Not stated" means the operator doesn't publish it. We don't publish bonus offers for Ontario. For live dealer tables and new launches, see live casinos and new online casinos.

Ontario casinos: Canadian FAQ

Are online casinos legal in Ontario?

Yes, on regulated sites. An operator needs a registration from the AGCO and, except OLG.ca, an operating agreement with iGaming Ontario. iGaming Ontario publishes the full list of regulated sites; on 14 October 2026 it showed 49 operators and 84 websites, accurate as of 1 September 2026.

How old do you have to be to play online casino games in Ontario?

19. iGaming Ontario says you must be 19 or older to take part in all internet gaming products, and the AGCO's standards list anyone under 19 as ineligible. You must also be physically located in Ontario when you play.

Why don't Ontario casino ads mention bonuses?

Because the AGCO's Standard 2.05 prohibits advertising and marketing that communicates gambling inducements, bonuses and credits. Offers can appear on the operator's own site, or in direct marketing to players who consented on that site.

How do I stop playing on every Ontario site at once?

Use BetGuard, the centralized self-exclusion tool iGaming Ontario launched on May 14, 2026. It covers all regulated Ontario igaming sites, including OLG's, for 6 months, 1 year, 5 years or a custom term, and is open to anyone 19 or older.
